![]() I paid with two ticket vouchers, and was surprised to see that the ticket surcharge was actually $12 per ticket. Expensive, I thought, but we were intrigued as to what 4DX was alll about. I checked the pricing to see how much it cost, and the 4DX format was listed as being an $8 surcharge over the general price. Hello everyone, my wife and I went to see a new movie in the 4DX format. So if there's an action movie you are going to see anyway, and if you like movie-screen, moving seat amusement park rides, you should at least give this a go. If it had been under $20/ticket, I would have given it a "Very Good" ranking. So I guess this is average+ for the price. Then again, it's not that much more than regular movie tickets and feels a lot like so many move-screen attractions at a place like Universal I could hardly hope to have three whole hours of this kind of ride at that kind of amusement park. As much as I enjoyed it, I don't think it's for everyone.Īll-in-all this was a very cool but somewhat expensive adventure for a movie - on the order of $25/ticket. ![]() Maybe one exception is the puffs of air that hit you in the ear - they were a bit too loud, although they only happened during loud, action scenes. ![]() Please note: I am not prone to be motion sick, I enjoy movie-screen-rides, and I found the effects very pleasant - it actually enhanced the movie. Up in the rafters of the theater, there were huge fans that could make the whole room windy, and there was a fog machine that made a little fog to blend into foggy scenes. "The Battle of Five Armies" featured smells of burning during Smaug's attack, smells of grass in Hobbiton, and that kind of thing. In front of each pair of seats is a module that can put certain smells in the air. The seats also can nudge you in the back and surprise you with a puff of air from behind either side of your neck. The seats are mounted in pairs, which can move up and down, tilt, and of course shake. I saw the final installation of the Hobbit series in 4DX at LA Live.
